 1. 1         Teaching methods of the teacher that you observed

In English class for SSC Grade 4, there are several methods that the teacher uses to teach in the class. The teacher divides the class into several sessions, there are a session to practice students' English skills, then a main material session. In this practice session, the teacher uses the drill method to train students' pronunciation and vocabulary. Moreover, the teacher usually carries out singing activities together with the students to foster learning motivation in the classroom. Then for the main material session, the teacher uses the cooperative learning method.

 

1.2          Their learning material and innovation

The material presented by the teacher during the observation period was singular and plural nouns, and regular and irregular nouns. In one of the learning activities presenting singular and plural noun material, the teacher made innovations such as using a card containing singular and plural nouns. The teacher gives students the task of guessing the plural noun from the singular noun card shown by the teacher.

 

1.3          Source of learning technology used by the teachers

The sources of learning materials used in the classroom are books and modules created directly by DepEd. The book has been designed for weekly activities (day 1 to day 5), where each day has different objectives and activities. There are two type of book, Teacher's Guide Book and English Book for Students.

For the tools used by teachers when teaching in class, teachers present material using large printed paper so that students can clearly see the material presented by the teacher. For video material, the teacher uses the TV in the classroom to play video material.

Teacher is also have a daily log as a material / activity guide for the learning activity in the classroom from Monday to Friday. 




1.4         Authentic Assessment used by the teachers


The assessment used by teachers for students is in the form of practice questions regarding material that has been previously taught by the teacher or continuation of material that will be studied the next day. Then, the assessment given by the teacher is checked together at the next meeting as a form of student understanding or as student preparation before moving on to the next material.
